Dr. Lejla Balić Prašević
Doctor with many years of experience in the field of internal medicine, endocrinology and diabetology, dedicated to a modern and individual approach to treating patients. Her professional work is based on expertise, continuous education and monitoring of the latest medical guidelines in the field of endocrinology and metabolic disorders.
She graduated from the Faculty of Medicine, University of Sarajevo, where she completed a specialization in emergency medicine and general internal medicine, as well as a subspecialization in endocrinology and diabetology at the Clinical Center of the University of Sarajevo.
She began her professional career in 2008 at the Emergency Center of the General Hospital “Prim. dr. Abdulah Nakaš” Sarajevo, where she gained significant experience in the care of acute and complex internal conditions. She continues her professional development at the Department of Internal Medicine of the same institution, with a special focus on the diagnosis and treatment of endocrinological and metabolic diseases.
In her daily clinical practice, she deals with the diagnosis, treatment and monitoring of patients with type 1 and type 2 diabetes, gestational diabetes, obesity and metabolic disorders. Her special professional interest is in diseases of the pituitary gland, thyroid and parathyroid glands, adrenal glands, bone metabolism disorders, polycystic ovary syndrome, hormonal disorders, infertility and gynecomastia.
She has completed additional professional training through the international program “SCOPE Obesity Education Program” at the World Obesity Federation, in the field of modern approaches to the treatment of obesity and metabolic disorders.
She is the author and co-author of several professional and scientific papers, and actively participates in the education of medical students and the professional development of young colleagues as a mentor. She is a regular participant in domestic and international congresses, education and professional meetings in the fields of endocrinology, diabetology and internal medicine.
She is an active member of domestic and European professional associations in the fields of endocrinology and diabetology.
