Prostate ultrasound
Ultrasound is a non-invasive test, more precisely a medical diagnostic method. The ultrasound image is also called a sonogram. Ultrasound…

CDI – Color Doppler ultrasound is an imaging test that uses sound waves to display blood flow through blood vessels. Standard ultrasound also employs sound waves to create images of internal structures but cannot depict blood flow. Color Doppler, a specific Doppler type, uses a computer to convert sound waves into various colors, illustrating blood flow velocity and direction in real time. Doppler ultrasound is a painless, low-risk procedure with minimal preparation that provides physicians with vital data on blood circulation through major arteries and veins.
Blocked or reduced blood flow through narrowed arterial segments, potentially causing stroke, can be detected with this ultrasound. Stroke risk factors include smoking, high salt intake, excess weight, insufficient exercise, stress, and oral contraceptive use, alongside age, sex, and genetics.
Renal arteries carry a large blood volume from the heart to the kidneys, which filter excess fluid and waste from the blood. Each kidney receives blood from one renal artery—the right to the right kidney and left to the left—with kidneys positioned in the posterior abdomen just above the waist; each artery measures 4-6 cm long, originating from the abdominal aorta.
These arteries enter the kidney at the renal hilum, the entry/exit point for vessels and nerves, then branch into smaller vessels: nephrons (tiny filters), glomeruli (capillary clusters allowing waste and water passage into tubules while retaining proteins and cells), tubules (reabsorbing fluid, nutrients, and minerals back into blood vessels, with remainder forming urine), and renal veins (draining filtered blood).
Given the kidneys’ vital role, constant vigilance over renal arteries linking them to the heart is essential; promptly address any symptoms. Color Doppler ultrasound excels in assessing these arteries’ condition, detecting narrowing or blockages to enable timely treatment and prevent severe complications.
