Poliklinika Atrijum RTG dijagnostika

Pelvic X-ray

RTG (X-ray) diagnostics is one of the oldest and most commonly used diagnostic methods in medicine. It is a technique that uses electromagnetic radiation in the form of X-rays to obtain images of internal body structures. RTG diagnostics is non-invasive and quick, making it useful in diagnosing various diseases and conditions. In RTG diagnostics, the patient stands, lies, or sits in front of the X-ray machine, and the body is exposed to a small amount of ionizing radiation. X-rays pass through the body and create an image on a special film or digital sensor located on the other side of the patient. Images can show bones, internal organs, and soft tissues. RTG diagnostics is relatively inexpensive and quick and is available in almost all hospitals and medical institutions. However, exposure to ionizing radiation can be harmful, especially with frequent repetition of the procedure. Therefore, it is usually avoided in diagnosing pregnant women and children, and other, safer diagnostic methods are applied.

What is Pelvis RTG?

RTG of the pelvis is a diagnostic procedure that uses X-rays to visualize bones, joints, and other parts of the pelvis. The procedure is often prescribed to diagnose injuries, deformities, arthritis, or other problems in the pelvic area.

  • A pelvic X-ray can help diagnose a variety of conditions, including:
  • Fractures of the bones of the pelvis or hips
  • Joint problems, such as arthritis or hip dysplasia
  • Deformations or irregularities of the pelvic bones, such as congenital hip dysplasia
  • Tumors or other lesions in the pelvic area

Before the procedure, the patient must change into a hospital gown and remove all metal objects from the pelvic area, such as jewelry, belts, or shoe buckles. During the procedure, the patient lies on the RTG table, and X-rays are directed toward the pelvis to obtain images. The procedure is usually quick and painless.

Conditions Detected

RTG of the pelvis can help diagnose various conditions, including:

  • Fractures of pelvic or hip bones
  • Joint problems, such as arthritis or hip dysplasia
  • Deformities or irregularities of pelvic bones, such as congenital hip dysplasia
  • Tumors or other lesions in the pelvic area

However, pelvis RTG may be limited in diagnosing soft tissue or organ conditions in the pelvic area. Other diagnostic procedures, such as ultrasound, CT scanning, or magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), may be needed for complete diagnosis.

If you have symptoms indicating pelvic problems, such as pain, swelling, or limited movement, it is important to seek medical attention and discuss with your doctor which diagnostic procedures may be needed to diagnose your condition.

Therefore, it is usually avoided in diagnosing diseases in pregnant women and children, and other, safer diagnostic methods are applied. With the rapid advancement of technology, there are other more advanced diagnostic methods that are safer and provide better image quality than RTG diagnostics. However, RTG diagnostics remains one of the basic diagnostic methods used in many situations.
