Poliklinika Atrijum CT dijagnostika

CT scan of the lungs

CT – computed tomography (CT) is a diagnostic method that uses X-rays to create detailed, three-dimensional images of internal organs and structures. During the scanning process, the patient is placed on a table that moves slowly through a cylindrical machine, through which X-rays pass from multiple angles. A special program then combines the resulting images to create a three-dimensional image of the inside of the body. CT is used in the diagnosis of various health problems, including the detection of tumors, traumatic injuries, blood clots, and other conditions. It is important to note that CT uses X-rays, which can represent a certain dose of radiation, so its use must be carefully considered in relation to the benefits and risks.

In the Atrijum polyclinic, CT lungs are performed on the modern CT scanner Toshiba Aquilion Prime 160 slice.

CT lungs on the Toshiba Aquilion 160 slice device has several advantages compared to other CT devices:
High resolution: Toshiba Aquilion 160 slice has high image resolution.
Scanning speed: Thanks to the large number of detectors (in this case 160 slice), scanning is faster than on devices with fewer “slices”. This reduces the risk of motion artifacts, improves image quality, and reduces patient exposure to radiation.
Low radiation dose: Advanced image processing techniques, such as iterative reconstruction and the use of low-dose protocols, reduce the radiation dose needed to achieve high-quality images.
Precise diagnostics: High resolution and scanning speed enable precise diagnostics.
Patient comfort: Faster scanning reduces the time spent in the scanner, which improves patient comfort and reduces anxiety.

CT Lung Examination

Diagnostic method in which, with the help of a special device and X-rays, imaging of the thorax layers (chest) is performed and diagnostic information for assessing the chest is obtained through computer data processing is called CT lung examination. This examination is used to assess the condition of the lungs and diagnose lung diseases, and within it, detailed images inside the body are created using X-ray technology.

For CT lung examination, patients prepare by being advised to wear clothing without metal objects, as such objects can interfere with X-rays and impair image quality. Also, medical staff at our Polyclinic may ask you to eat and not drink for several hours before the examination itself to prevent unwanted side effects during the procedure, such as vomiting.

During this CT examination, the patient is instructed to lie on a movable table that slowly moves through the opening in the CT scanner. After that, this device uses X-rays to create detailed images of the lungs. Also, during the examination, it is possible that the medical staff will ask the patient to hold their breath for a short time so that the captured lung images are as high quality as possible.

The procedure usually takes between 10 and 30 minutes, depending on the patient’s needs and the requirements of the medical team.

After the examination, the medical team will review the images and report the examination results to the patient. In some cases, it may be necessary to repeat the examination or perform other additional tests to obtain a more precise diagnostic finding.

CT lung examination is a safe and non-invasive procedure, with minimal risk of injury or side effects. However, like any medical procedure that uses X-rays, there is a small dose of radiation, which may increase the risk of cancer in rare cases. Therefore, CT lung examination is usually performed only when it is considered necessary for diagnosis or monitoring of the patient’s health condition.
