Family medicine represents an important segment of medical services in BiH and constitutes the first line of contact and entry into the healthcare system. Poliklinika Atrijum was the first in the private healthcare sector in BiH to introduce family medicine services, where all insured persons of the Health Insurance Institute of Sarajevo Canton can receive treatment covered by ZZO KS, just like in state clinics.

Family Medicine Teams at Atrijum

Family medicine holds an important place as the first line of defense in timely treatment of all diseases. In May 2014, the first family medicine clinic began operating in our polyclinic as part of ZZO KS.

Poliklinika Atrijum is the only private healthcare institution that has three family medicine teams in its staff. This creates capacity for 5,400 insured persons within Atrijum family medicine.

How to Transfer Your Medical Record to Atrijum Family Medicine Clinic

You can transfer your medical record or your family’s medical record to family medicine if you are:

• Insured by ZZO KS (Health Insurance Institute of Sarajevo Canton)
• Older than 14 years

If you meet the conditions, the following is required:

• Visit your current family medicine clinic and fill out the request (REQUEST FOR MEDICAL RECORD TRANSFER)
• The request must be certified by the staff at your current clinic
• Deliver the certified request to the Atrijum family medicine premises for certification (Džemala Bijedića 185)
• Return the completed request to your current family medicine clinic

After the request is delivered to the premises of the current clinic, you automatically become a member of Atrijum family medicine, and your medical record arrives officially to the clinic.

Services Available at Atrijum Family Medicine Clinic

At Atrijum family medicine clinic, you realize all rights as in your previous family medicine clinic. The services you can access are:

• Examination by family medicine doctor
• ECG recording
• Issuing referrals to all state institutions
• Electronic issuance of therapy and prescriptions
• Follow-up visits
• Medical management and monitoring of patients
• Opening and closing sick leave
• Administering I.V and I.M therapy
• Dressing postoperative wounds and outpatient suture removal

All services that do not require patient presence can be handled by calling the family medicine phone number or sending findings via email. Services that do not require patient presence include:

• Opening sick leave for family member care
• Issuing new or ongoing therapy
• Sending electronic referrals to other institutions for regular check-ups
